A wholly owned division of Qualcomm Incorporated, Qualcomm Technologies, has revealed its intention to purchase semiconductor business Autotalks, which specialises in vehicle-to-everything (V2X) connectivity. The purchase is subject to the usual closing requirements.
The automotive business is changing quickly because to innovation and digital technologies. The key to this change is connectivity, which paves the path for the next generation of software-defined cars that will boost safety, enhance the driving experience, and enable new revenue models. Automotive safety systems now need the use of V2X communication technologies, that enable vehicles to connect with one another and their environment.
Autotalks has been devoted to V2X communications since 2009 and offers dual-mode worldwide V2X solutions that are automotive-qualified, prevent collisions, and enhance mobility. Given Qualcomm’s nearly two decades of automotive products knowledge and Autotalks’ expertise, the acquisition seeks to hasten the development and deployment of V2X solutions, improving traffic safety and efficiency.
The dual-mode standalone safety solutions from Autotalks that are ready for production will be incorporated into Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Digital Chassis line of products, which offers a wide range of cloud-connected automotive platforms.
According to Qualcomm Technologies’ SVP and GM of Automotive, Nakul Duggal, the firm is dedicated to V2X and believes in an independent V2X safety architecture. He also mentioned that both businesses have a shared goal of addressing problems related to actual road safety, and that by working together, they will create worldwide V2X solutions that hasten time to market and facilitate widespread adoption.
Hagai Zyss, CEO of Autotalks, expressed his certainty that their combined skills will provide powerful V2X products that improve security and efficiency in transportation and hasten adoption.
Many clients and industry titans, including the VW Group company CARIAD, Continental Automotive, GM, HARMAN, Quectel, Renault Group, Rolling Wireless, and Wistron NeWeb Corporation, have expressed support for the acquisition.
These businesses are aware of how crucial V2X communication technologies are to enhancing safety, reducing traffic, and laying the groundwork for autonomous vehicles. They are eager to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies and Autotalks to create intelligent mobility, improve road safety and efficiency, and hasten the adoption of V2X technologies around the world.
With the addition of Autotalks, Qualcomm Technologies will be better positioned to serve the growing demand for connection in software-defined vehicles by offering cutting-edge V2X communication solutions. Together, Qualcomm Technologies & Autotalks are currently in a position to produce advanced, exceptional V2X solutions which will improve traffic safety and productivity.
