Around 2300 electric vehicle (EV) charging points have been installed in Delhi thanks to BSES discoms BRPL and BYPL, and 900 more are currently being set up, according to business officials on Tuesday. Over 900 places in south, east, central, and west Delhi now have 2300 charging outlets installed, including 1,123 private, 745 public, and 419 for exclusive BSES use, according to the officials.
According to the corporation, discussions with a number of partners are underway to increase the charging infrastructure.
According to an official, “BSES will assist in the setting up of additional 900+ points for charging over the next few months,” who also stated that BSES discoms intend to convert their whole collection of vehicles to EVs by 2030.
BSES currently has 80 electric vehicles, and in the following two years, they expect that number to increase to 150.
In order to lower air pollution and enhance public health, the Delhi government’s EV strategy seeks to hasten the implementation of electric vehicles within the city. To promote the purchase and usage of EVs, the programme offers a number of incentives and subsidies.
By 2024, the strategy wants 25 percent of Delhi’s new car registrations to be electric vehicles.
Through the Switch Delhi Portal, BRPL and BYPL customers can have a private EV charging point placed at their residences, group housing societies, multi-story apartment buildings, RWA offices, and retail establishments.
The Delhi government is offering a one-time grant of Rs 6000 to the first 30,000 recharging outlets in order to promote the private charging initiative.
