A local self-driving startup from China named DeepRoute has now presented its Driver 3.0 solution for automakers, claiming that it does away with the requirement for high-definition maps and enables quick and affordable deployment. AliBaba, which led a $300 million Series B fundraising round in 2021, has a significant stake in DeepRoute.
DeepRoute’s New Self-Driving Solution
Driver 2.0, DeepRoute’s previous project, launched in 2021 for less than $10,000 and was sold in China under the Lincoln and Geely’s Geometry brands. In Shenzhen, a series of 30 robotaxis using Driver 2.0 was introduced last year.
Driver 3.0, the new solution unveiled today, will be offered by a well-known automaker this year, though DeepRoute hasn’t revealed which one. Without HD maps, Driver 3.0 can provide lane-level information in real-time surrounding the automobile and interact securely with e-bikes and pedestrians.
It can perform stop-and-go driving, adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, unsafe left turns, and other intricate movements. DeepRoute is providing automakers with two different versions of Driver 3.0.
D-PRO has a $2,000 hardware cost and offers operational design domain-unrestricted point-to-point navigating on all roads and Valet Parking Assist. D-AIR has automated cruise control, lane centering control, and automated emergency braking and costs $1,000 in hardware.
