Electrify America will Provide Two Years of Free Charging to New Hyundai IONIQ 6 Owners

Electrify America, a DC fast charging network, today unveiled its newest free charging offer for EV owners. Future Hyundai IONIQ 6 owners will receive two years of complimentary 30-minute charging sessions on its network, offering speeds up to 350 kW – ideal for the electric streamliner’s 800V e-GMP platform.

With companies in the US and Canada, Electrify America runs the biggest fast-charging network in North America. In order to increase its footprint, consumer education, and charger accessibility, it presently runs over 800 charging stations with about 3,500 chargers and is investing over $2 billion in EV infrastructure.

Electrify America supports its consumers by providing opportunities for free charging on occasion, such as on holidays like Environment Day, in addition to its expanding network of DC fast chargers. Also, the network offers free charging sessions for new EV owners through partnerships with a number of automakers, including Hyundai with its Kona Electric and IONIQ 5 models.

The owners of the future IONIQ 6 streamliner EV will receive two years of sessions as part of EA’s expansion of its free charging collaboration with Hyundai, the company said today.

With the Hyundai IONIQ 6, two years of free charging are included

Today, Electrify America released information about its most recent free charging offer, which will provide Hyundai IONIQ 6 customers access to two years of limitless 30-minute sessions starting from the day of purchase. Rob Barrosa, now EA’s vice president of technology and upcoming president and CEO, said:

We are eager to work with Hyundai once more to provide EV owners with hyper-fast charging services. We look forward to working with renowned automakers like Hyundai and their newest IONIQ 6 model to further the electric vehicle revolution.

Due to Hyundai Motor Group’s 800V e-GMP platform, IONIQ 6 owners will be among the select few EV drivers who can benefit from the 350 kW charge rates some Electrify America DC fast chargers can offer. Olabisi Boyle, vice president of product planning and mobility strategy at Hyundai Motor North America, explained:

According to consumer research, our customers anticipate quick charging (10-80% in 18 mins) and high AER, thus our investment in the 800V e-GMP platform that enables DC fast charging is in line with that expectation (361 miles). The experience of our customers is further improved by our extended cooperation with EA, which gives free access to the fastest charging network. Our clients may enjoy a joyful EV driving experience thanks to the best-in-class and ultra-fast charging IONIQ 6. Our clients continue to have easy access to the quickest charging thanks to the expanded collaboration with Electrify America, especially when travelling long distances.

In advance of the IONIQ 6’s formal launch in the US this spring, Hyundai announced the IONIQ 6’s initial pricing in late February. Stay tuned for a detailed report on our experience operating the all-electric streamliner, which we will be doing for the first time this week in Arizona.
