Hyundai officially introduced the Ioniq 5 crossover at Auto Expo 2023, with the first 500 buyers receiving it for an introductory price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 16 lakh less expensive than the Kia EV6, its cousin car. The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s second electric vehicle for India after the Kona EV, which has been on sale there since 2019. Reservations for the crossover are already being accepted for Rs 1 lakh.

Ioniq 5: Exterior Styling Details
The Ioniq 5 as the 45 EV concept made its international debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the final production model extensively incorporates the concept’s retro-futuristic design language.
The Ioniq 5’s retro styling has sharp lines, slick surfaces, and an SUV-like attitude in addition to steeply sloping windscreens. The 20-inch aero-optimized wheels have a turbine-like form, while the headlights and taillights have a distinctive pixelated appearance. Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 models come in Gravity Gold Matte, Optic White, and Midnight Black Pearl finishes.
Equipment and Interior
The basic interior of the Ioniq 5 features a flat floor, adjustable seats, and a mobile centre console. Hyundai’s upholstery features eco-friendly leather and materials made from recycled plastic.
Two 12.3-inch touchscreens for the instrument cluster and touchscreen, an ADAS system, and a heads-up display with augmented reality capabilities are all included in the Ioniq 5. Additionally, it features a 3.6kW vehicle-to-load capacity that can power devices like laptops and smartphones. There are two ports that can be used for this function: one is located outside the car, near the charging port, and the other is hidden underneath the back seats.
Engine Specifications
The Ioniq 5 has an ARAI-certified range of 631 kilometres on a single charge thanks to a 72.6kWh battery. The Ioniq 5’s electric engine produces 217 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, and it solely has rear-wheel drive. The battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes with the Ioniq 5’s ultra-rapid 800V charging feature.
Cheaper than its cousin, Kia EV6
The Ioniq 5 is made in India, as opposed to its cousin, the Kia EV6, which is entirely imported. It is less expensive than the EV6 because of the difference in customs duty between a completely built-up unit (CBU) and a completely knocked-down (CKD) vehicle (CKD).
What else will Hyundai display at the 2023 Motor Show?
Together with the Ioniq 5, Hyundai also unveiled the Ioniq 6 EV sedan and the Nexo fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV). ADAS, networked cars, and forthcoming mobility services were all showcased by Hyundai. Hyundai provides many opportunities for consumer connection.
