Announced today, Tata Motors celebrating its production milestone of 50,000 electric vehicles in India. Tata marking its presence in the passenger EV segment with the Nexon EV and Tigor EV. The native automaker has rolled out its 50,000th number EV from its Pune plant respectively. The same going to deliver in its white-colored Nexon EV Max, which was debuted some months back.
Speaking on this achievement, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. said, “As the pioneers of EVs in the country, the onus of ensuring successful adoption was on us. With a well-calibrated product mix and strong consumer-facing initiatives, we have been able to address barriers to EV adoption. We created an entire EV ecosystem with Tata Group companies to provide simple, cost-effective solutions for our customers.”
Notably, in May 2022, Tata expanded its EV range with the Nexon EV along with the Nexon EV Max. As these vehicles come with a bigger battery and therefore they claimed to have a longer driving range of 437 km on a single charge. And in order to bring its expansion to the next level, Tata has recently launched the most affordable passenger electric hatchback in India. This is the Tiago EV, which claims a range of up to 315 km respectively.
In this range, Tata has not equipped the vehicle with features like multi-mode regen as well as multiple drive modes for optimal range. Throughout the lineup, the company also uses the all-new Ziptron architecture. It is worth informing here, that the same as the driven and proven for over 450 million km. This is being tested in diverse and challenging Indian terrains. It also provides enhanced software updates to existing EV customers some time back.
Moving ahead, talking about the expanding network of Tata then it has entered 80 new cities and parallelly spread to more than 165 cities.
Coming to the pricing then the Tata Tiago electric hatch is starting price range of Rs. 8.49 lakh and Rs. 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Whereas the Tigor EV costs around Rs. 12.49 lakh for the base variant and goes up to Rs. 13.64 lakh for the top-end variant. On the other hand, the Nexon EV has a price range between Rs. 14.99 lakh and Rs. 17.50 lakh. While the EV Max costs between Rs. 18.34 lakh and Rs. 20.04 lakh (ex-showroom).
