GAC Group is a Chinese state-owned car maker. Its motive is to expand its operations outside of the country. While the company has already reached and covers 28 countries with its service centers. For achieving the same, the company tries its best. Whereas, as a part of its recent push, the Chinese brand announced a new R&D center in Italy. In the same event, the company showcased a Barchetta EV roadster concept to flex some muscles.
Additionally, the interesting piece of information is that the Barchetta concept has been designed by the new team in Italy in the small phase of just two months. This new R&D center head by Stephane Janin, who is a former boss for concept development at Renault. Also, it is worth noting here, that GAC has identical R&D centers in Los Angeles and Shanghai respectively.
Talking about the Barchetta EV concept than it’s an exceptionally low ground clearance model. The electric vehicle is very low in height and has a light body weight. It is equipped with a new design battery that is inspired by smartphones. While its chassis is mainly made up of aluminum. The interior is made up of recycled plastic and wire connections in place of mechanical ones. And all these reduce the weight of the car to a great extent.
