SWYTCHD: Bengaluru based startup provides EVs on monthly subscription

Last, in the past few months, the use of Electric vehicles is presently being encouraged in the country. Whereas stitching from Internal combustion Engine (ICE ) variants to EVs is probably difficult for many. Also, when it comes to their cost then an electric car costs 2X times more. Whereas the cost of an electric two-wheeler is 15 percent more than an ICE variant respectively. These facts are captured from the EY report released in August 2022 states. On the other hand, the high cost and the recent battery fire incident made people unenthusiastic about buying EVs.

In opposition to the above-mentioned problems, what if you get a chance to try and test the vehicle before purchasing it? Therefore to overcome this problem, a Bangalore-based startup SWYTCHD provides electric vehicles on a monthly subscription basis. Whereas, this subscription includes all, that covers insurance, charging refunds, servicing, maintenance, and breakdown support.

The company SWYTCHD is founded in 2021 and the founder is Sameer Arif. SWYTCHD offers a range of EVs in order to choose both two-wheelers and cars.

Charges of a monthly subscription to EVs

Talking about the subscription then it starts from Rs 4,000 for two-wheelers while it ranges up to Rs 6,000 per month. In addition to this, the monthly subscription for four wheeler ranges from Rs 30,000 and goes up to Rs 60,000 per month.

Two-wheeler models include four models which are OLS S1 Pro, Revolt RV400, Hero Photon Hx, and Ather 450X. While Four wheeler, SWYTCHD offers TATA Tigor XZ+, TATA Nexon EV XZ+ Lux, Hyundai Kona Premium, and MG ZS EV Exclusive. Parallelly, it also allows customers to purchase a different vehicle every month.

Charging stations

As informed by the company, the vehicles come with the inclusion of the services like Charge (free of charge) at home or at a public location. The amount is refundable to the customers at the end of the hire period.

As per the report, if the vehicle runs out of battery while on road, then it brings access to various public charging points. And it includes Ather, Kazam, Bolt, BESCOM, and Tata Power.

Additionally, the one-month subscription is available in 10 cities. And the locations are Ahmedabad, Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Surat, Kolkata, and Hyderabad respectively.

The same report also states that the startup also seeks to raise investment to fund fleet expansion and hiring. SWYTCHD motive is to add 1,000 vehicles on the road by 2023. Moving ahead the startup also working on an app in order to help customers brings details of their subscriptions and suggest finding nearby charging points.
